We did it again … we had another memorable 365 days worth celebrating. We embraced our new official, unofficial slogan “We make things look easy” and applied it to everything we do. What does that mean? It means that even though things aren’t always easy (actually, they very rarely are), we still make them look like they are!

So hop aboard this time machine as we travel through this past year and relive the experiences of life on top with Atlantbh.

Supporting young talents

First stop – supporting young IT talents! Our team grew this year, we employed 26 new Atlanters! But that isn’t all, we also set a goal to reach 100 Atlanters by 2019. So where will we find the talent for this? With our ABH Internship for starters. We continue to provide students with the opportunity to gain practical experience by working on their very own IT projects with one-on-one mentorship from ABH engineers. We had 25 interns in 2018, many of which became Atlanters.

Atlantbh also decided it was time to do something more. We introduced our Atlantbh Scholarships for first and second-year students studying in an IT-related field at a B&H university. We also supported numerous students competing in IT competitions, both on a national and international level.

Same old same with a little twist

As traditions go, we kept ours alive. We continued to host Atlantbh Dev Days in collaboration with local technical universities. We also continued to support some of our partners, including the EESTEC JobFair at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of Sarajevo. This year, however, we outdid ourselves at the JobFair. We played a game called “Build your profile” where students wrote down what they do to help build their profiles for the chance to spin the prize wheel and win ABH merch.

We also hosted our very own ABH JobFair as well as Internship meetups in our office … to give people a chance to see why the air is better up here.

Something new

2018 also marked the introduction of our new look. We introduced our flashy new website – so fresh to death, it will make your heart skip a beat. We also introduced our new design/brand as can be seen on all the cool ABH Merch we’ve been handing out. Everyone seems to want our merchandise, we can’t blame them for having such good taste.

People come first

Atlanters love to learn so we support this with our education budget. We introduced our ABH Library which is full of technical books as chosen by the people. Atlanters gone global became a thing this year too because we attended multiple conferences, from We Are Developers conferences all around Europe, to European Women in Technology, to Web Summit. We even participated in local conferences and events.

As always, we had our share of fun too. We contributed to multiple charitable causes and jumped at the chance to help out wherever we could. We also did some of the good ‘ole stuff we are known for like The Avengers: Infinity War early premiere, First Thursdays, Mystery Dinners, ABHWheelaversary, Christmas tree decorating with some mulled wine and of course our ABH retreat.

This year’s retreat was legendary … yeah, we said it. Channeling our inner Tribal spirit, we had our first-ever Tribal Games.

To end the year off, we had our annual New Year’s office party with food, drinks, and Secret Santa gifts. A lot of people asked us why we had it so early in December. That’s because this year we’re closing the office early and taking a well-deserved office holiday. Making things look easy is hard work and we need a break … in fact we need a lot of breaks. In 2019, we will be introducing summer Fridays, where every Friday ends at 3 p.m.

We are looking forward to that, but until then happy holidays and see you in the new year!
