We, as a company, are trying to become the change we want to see in the world and that is the reason why we have been investing in our ABH Goes Green campaign for the past few months. As part of the campaign, we started recycling in the office, replaced plastic with glass bottles and started to measure the air quality in our office. On the other hand, we are also participating in activities around our community such as contributing to youth education and helping disadvantaged children.
This time we found a way to unite charity and going green through a partnership with Pomozi, a charity organization that provides aid to disadvantaged people all over the country in various ways. For the past two weeks, Atlanters have been collecting new and gently-used clothing which will be distributed to children and adults in need by Pomozi.
It may not be widespread information, but clothing production can be very harmful for the environment, especially when we talk about mass manufacturing. With so much viable clothing being thrown out yearly, and more being manufactured to replace it unnecessarily, this has an impact on our planet. Consider, the textile industry is responsible for 10% of all carbon emissions on the planet and to make a single pair of jeans up to 1800 gallons of water is necessary. Having this in mind, we decided to donate cloting to those in need and save the environment, at least a little, from additional toxification.
We hope that we will inspire more companies and organizations to participate in similar initiatives. We also invite everyone to make the world a greener and better place, because sometimes even the tiniest of details can make everything that much better.
